Procedural Rhetoric Project Challenge

I think the biggest obstacle I’ve encountered while working on my instructions involved figuring out how to imbed and align my images with my text. (I used Microsoft Word for this project, so I don’t know if there is another Microsoft program that might have worked better.) I was able to paste my screenshots into the document, but I struggled making sure each step and corresponding image were matched up next to each other. I constantly had to readjust both components of the instructions. Any modification I made to the text or image (such as hitting “Enter” between each step to make more space) completely altered the order of the images. The process of simply setting up the page to resemble a standard instructions document felt pretty time consuming and a little irritating. Some of my images look very similar to each other, so I also needed to frequently be aware that each image was connecting to the right step. Luckily, I discovered how to add captions to my images, which thankfully did not alter or interfere with the page’s setup. I really tried to make sure each image was aligned with the ones preceding and following it (also trying to replicate an instructions manual layout). Generally, I think I have a fair idea of what my instructions should look like. Perhaps with feedback I’ll learn more efficient or alternative ways to correct the elements of the project I’m concerned with.
